Jake Lauro (Woman worker in a London Textile Mill)
These advancements in our manufacturing technology have given me a great opportunity to make a little bit of money. Back on the farm I worked just as hard, but I was outside in the brutal sun, and I made no money at all. But in the mill, I work inside, which can still be hot, but it's very nice in the winter. I also make money that is actually mine, not my families. I can use this money to help my family out when the money's tight, and that makes me feel really good about myself, and makes me feel like im helping out. I really like this Industrial Revolution, and it has been helpful and positive to my family, friends, and basically everyone I know, including myself.

Thomas Robert Malthus (K.Ellis)- When you worked on the farm you did not make a lot of money, but you had a surplus of food, which you could sell to make some money. that was before you went into the factories and mills. Now you are working on the factories, making a slightly decent amount of money, which is good, but now since your whole family is in the factories your family no longer owns the farm. So because of this, you have money and no food, the complete opposite of what you had before. Which is better food or money?
ReplyDeleteAdam Smith (garrett elderkin), you say you are making more money and that your life is better but you have to ask yourself "is your life as free as it used to be" you are now working for someone who is doing as the government needs, don't you think you would make more money if you had one person in control who was competing against another company to make more money.
